Welcome to NIDA

- A friendly social group whose aim is to promote healthy and happy life styles through dance and exercise

NIDA is a fantastic social group for people to meet, share their knowledge and experience and have good times through dance and exercise. The group was established in 2007 and there have been regular dance sessions held in Nailsea on Friday evenings since then, with members from Nailsea & Backwell, Clevedon, Portishead, Bristol, Weston-super-Mare, and the surrounding areas. NIDA dance sessions are open to all, encompassing all ages and abilities, bring together indigenous, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. You are warmly welcome to join this group. There is no need to book a place, just turn up and join the dance.

A typical NIDA session would start promptly at 8:00pm to include a warm up exercise, a guided practice for basic Latin dance steps such as Salsa, Cha Cha or Rumba, followed by a line dance session. Towards the end of the dance session, a simple 'Clap Your Hands' or similar dance style is often performed in which people all dance together around a circle. Refreshment is then served at around 9:15pm.

All of NIDA's dance instructors are volunteers from the group, so the major costs to cover are the hall rentals, public liability insurance and refreshments. Currently the members contribute £2.00 per evening session. First session is free for new members.

NIDA Schedule:
Date/time: Every Friday evening 8:00pm-9:30pm (doors open at 7:45pm)
Place: Wesley Building, Nailsea Methodist church
Address: 74 Silver Street, Nailsea, Bristol BS48 2DS (free car park)
